This canyon (just west of Cody) was cut by the North Fork of the Shoshone River. This is the location of the Buffalo Bill Dam (the small gray triangle with a flat top in the middle of the picture). The 328 ft. dam (once the highest in the world) creates the Shoshone reservior. It was recently raised about 50 ft.
